Lifelong learning can be created through help of 7 and a half habits:
habit 1 - goal: begin with end in mind
habit 2 - accept responsibility for own learning: value and take pride of own learning - participate in class, get engaged, do homeworks, ask, engage, engage
habit 3 - view problems as challenges
habit 4 - confidence in yourself as competent and effective
habit 5 - create own learning toolbox - books, mentors, technology
habit 6 - use technology to make life easier. ie, listen to audio book/ listen to mp3 during exercise
habit 7 - teach/mentor others: best way to learn is to teach others
habit 7.5 - play!: successful learners need to learn to play. children play cuz its good for brain developement.
The easiest habit for me is habit 1: goal. This is easiest because I know exactly what I want to achieve after my learning experience.
Ironically however, my hardest habit is habit 2: accept responsibility for own learning. In order to accept this responsibility, one must value and take pride in his/her learning. To do this, one must be completely engaged, participate in class discussions actively, go above and beyond in expectations, and much much more. I find this the most difficult because it becomes very challenging to keep motivated after a certain amount of time.
